Knock On Wood…

As you may have noticed African and Native American inspired jewelry is more popular than ever this season. Alongside the colorful beaded necklaces, and leather tassel earrings, sits the newly popular wooden jewelry.
It seems to have gone a slightly unnoticed this season, and we want to give it the credit it deserves.

What to Wear to a Pillow Fight

April 2nd is the International Pillow Fight Day.  The Pillow Fights, happening on this day in over 30 cities around the world, are organized by the Urban Playground Movement, who aims “to make these unique happenings in public space become a significant part of popular culture.”
For the third year in a row, over 400 people gathered in downtown L.A.’s Pershing Square to unleash some good-natured aggression in a fight-to-the-death (of the pillow)…They duked it out in great style, feathers flying everywhere…

Which leads to the question, what DOES one wear to a pillow fight, besides the obvious …

L.A. Designer: Valerj Pobega, “Kabaret 1939″

Valerj Pobega refused to color inside the lines, while growing up in Italy, surrounded by her artistic family.  Today, with her latest fashion/art installation, “Kabaret 1939”, she still refuses to do so…
Her provocative installation at the ACE Gallery expertly blended beauty and grace with the burlesque…All the clothing featured in her eponymous couture collection are hand-made.  Every piece, on a model or live mannequin, is a piece of art, featuring hand painting and dyeing.

The latest and brightest of L.A. talent, they take a crafted and architectural approach to clothing that’s truly refreshing…
Their fashion show was the highlight of the Emerging Designers Showcase, reminding us that fashion is also meant to inspire and provoke beyond mere practicality…Deftly exploring new materials (wood, metal, leather) to create stand-out pieces that are sculptural, conceptual, and push the limits as only fashion can…Who said you can’t wear a wooden skirt?!
And if the wooden skirts and metal bustiers are too much, the jewelry and accessories are easy to put on, perfect accent …

Custom shoes to live in…and die for…

Now let’s talk heels. Not just any heels, but custom heels. Custom, doesn’t the very sound of that word make your heart go pitter patter. Your heels have something no other heel has, your foot in them. So, why buy something that is made for the masses? 
Lately designers like Noel Hagman and KM2 have been pushing the envelope in the custom shoe department.
