Here & Now: Halloween Re-Fashion

12 November 2010 No Comment

The best excuse to let your character style go beyond your comfort zone, is Halloween. But after all of the festivities, where does your costume go? To the back of your closet, where it becomes just another ghost of Halloweens past.

Rather than allowing it all to go to waste, try incorporating them into your daily wear as statement pieces.

For those gladiators:

Wear your arm guard as a bold bracelet. Wear with a pair of jeans and a simple top with short sleeves, to show off your strong sense of style.

For the witches:

Ditch the old hat and broom, and try a new trick with the costume dress. Try hemming the gown it to make it more flattering, if necessary. Now you have a dramatic black dress that can be worn with boots, heels, or your favorite fall jacket.

For the sailor girls:

Turn that classic red neck tie into a headscarf, by attaching an old brooch. Perfect for fall weather and bad hair days!

For the Pocahontas:

Wear your Indian dress as a skirt, with a boyfriend sweater. The swirly fringes will draw all eyes to your legs. For a more subtle approach, try being inventive and use the feathers from your head dress as earrings. These looks marry fall’s fur-and-feathers trend to all fall colors.

For those angels:

Use your fuzzy halo and detach it from any extraneous attachments. Keep only the hovering circular ring, and twist it around to make a bracelet, or re-fashion it into a necklace.

Make your point with a unique accessory to complement your fall colors. Resurrect your old costumes from the dead, and give them fresh, new life this fall season!
