Turquoise Jewelry: Must-Have Spring Trend

Present in top trends over the last 3 years (seen in the Native American and Moroccan trends), turquoise is back in 2011 as favorite accessory to the tribal and bohemian trends.   The Pantone color of the year, and one of the main colors of the spring 2011 palette, turquoise is often combined with its complementary colors: orange or butterscotch.

Made famous by Hollywood celebs like Megan Fox, Jessica Biel, Cameron Diaz, Nicky Minaj, Katy Perry, and more, this ancient gemstone has come out from its mystical aura into fashion mainstream.  Designers have let their imaginations run wild with turquoise, turning it into Dior, Michael Kors, Lucifer Virurquoise  was quite present on the red carpet this year, at the Grammy’s and Oscars. Made famous by Hollywood Celebs like Jessica Biel, Cameron Diaz. Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, this ancient gemstone has now come out from its mystical aura and into the mainstream fashion jewelry. Couture designers like Dior, Phillipe & David Blond, Lucifer Vir have run the imaginations wild and turned it into striking creations.

Jewelry made out of turquoise is said to bring healing and protective powers to the person wearing it.  The color of the turquoise is also reputed to make someone happy and cheerful.

Turquoise combines well with all metals (copper, gold, brass, silver), and contrasts well with coral and other brightly-colored gemstones.  Its color varies, from summer-sky-blue to green, lime-green, and more greyish tones.  Reconstituted turquoise (ground-up turquoise that is mixed with resin and die, and formed into stones or sheets) is often cheaper.

Turquoise is perfect for casual wear, especially during summer, but can be worn throughout the year.  The more elaborate designs, combined with precious metals, can be combined with other jewels for more formal occasions.

This summer, use turquoise jewelry is a perfect accessory to the brights, tribal prints (perfect with animal print!), as well as whites and neutrals.  You cannot go wrong with turquoise.
